Read: Geek Girl: All That Glitters, by Holly Smale (+ Giveaway!)

Geek Girl: All That Glitters, by Holly Smale

I first read Geek Girl early last year. I'd noticed the first book while scrolling through my recommendations on Amazon, and as I fancied something new to read on my Kindle, I downloaded the first few chapters and gave it a shot. I was hooked within minutes and I knew I had to buy it immediately! Since then I've read the sequels and found myself laughing and crying along with Harriet's adventures. I was very chuffed to receive the latest book in the series, All That Glitters, early last week. I've been busy enjoying the book over the past week, and now I've finished it I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Harriet's back in England after spending time in New York, and she's starting Sixth Form. With her best mate Nat away at fashion college, she tries her best to find and make new friends. But when Nat announces she's preoccupied with a new boyfriend, and her stalker friend Toby starts avoiding her, Harriet decides to put a new plan in action... But will she sink or will she swim? And why is she suddenly so popular amongst her classmates?

I loved this book! Harriet is one of those characters you will never forget: a character who can tell you interesting facts about almost anything, from distant galaxies to tonsils. Although Harriet is super smart, she's also prone to getting herself into a lot of trouble! But no matter how many scrapes our heroine gets into, there's always a supportive friend or family member to help her. I particularly love the supporting cast of characters, especially her Dad, who is bonkers in the best way possible! Amongst the laugh-out-loud humour, the book deals with the aftermath of a breakup, loneliness, and friendship problems too. This makes the story hugely touching in places and it's great to see issues that affect young people dealt with realistically. As someone a lot older than the intended age group, I actually wished this series of books existed when I was younger!

I absolutely loved this book - it's a hilarious read suitable for fourteen years and up (and for mid-twenties ladies like myself who still love reading Young Adult fiction!)

All That Glitters is available now on Amazon, and you can also be a fan of Harriet here!

Oh, but that's not all though... fancy winning a copy of the book?
